Before you change anything, find out where you stand. This free test, from chapter 1 of the guide, asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google the question your customers ask, and keeps what they say as your starting line.
- Nothing to sign up for
- Nothing you type is sent to us
- A dated result to keep
Write the question
The guide: “One a real customer would ask, in their words, with your town in it.”
Pick the question closest to what your customer would ask:
Ask it three times
The guide: “In ChatGPT, Gemini and Google. All have a free version.” Then note whether you were named.
The guide: “Ask the AI about your own business before you change anything. What it says today tells you exactly where to start.”
Note the names
The guide: “Which businesses appear, and whether yours is one of them.”
Check the facts
The guide: “Is what it says about you accurate and up to date?”
Date it, keep it
The guide: “This is your starting line. Everything else is measured against it.”
Why run it once a month, not every day?
The guide puts it simply: “Ask an AI the same question twice and you rarely get the same list of names.” So one answer proves little. Run the test once a month, keep each dated result, and watch the trend.

The article How do I check if ChatGPT recommends my business? walks through the test, and chapter 1 is free to read. What to do about the result is the rest of the guide.
